We’ll be looking at our own availability to what God is doing around us.  We’ll be looking at the manner in which God has shown up in relationships and dialogue for others, and where and where and how He might show up in and through us. 

We’ll be considering tough questions—the kind people wrestle with in their souls.  Are there answers to be found?

Also take note that these first two Sundays in June the Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30AM as usual.  Beginning Sunday June 20th we will shift to our summer schedule, with the service beginning at 10AM.

So many different world religions.  So many different sects within each of these religions.  So many expressions of Christianity.  What do we believe?  What basic tenets connect us with other believers?

The Nicene Creed is an ancient statement of faith.  Originally adopted in the Fourth Century, it has become one of the most widely accepted brief statements of the Christian faith.  It is a fitting summary of what we believe and a solid foundation for what connects us with others.

Join us as we consider the essentials of our faith.

We’re reading a chapter a week at home and then when we come together on Sunday mornings we facilitate a little dialogue over the text–What observations did you make?  What did you find challenging within the chapter?  What did you find encouraging?  And so on.

It’s simple.  If someone you loved died, and then three days later walked out of their grave… it wouldn’t be some controlled ‘under-your-breath’ response.  It would be quite a celebration!  Quite frankly, someone we love died, and rose from the dead! 

Ephesians 1:18-19 reads: I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.

This power will be evidenced and celebrated in our gathering Easter Sunday.

The World Famous Christ’s Church Worship Band will pull out all the stops.  Testimonies of God’s power and grace will abound.  And we will celebrate!  I hope that you will plan to join us Sunday at 10:30AM for a worship experience and encounter with God that you will not forget.

This is your official invite: Join in the study!  For the next sixteen weeks we will consider a chapter a week through Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth–1 Corinthians.  During the worship service each week we will include a season of discussion over the text, our desire being to share in the read/study together.

Come prepared.  Give 1 Corinthians 1 a read prior to Sunday January 10th.  Give chapter 2 a read before the 17th.  Chapter 3 before the 24th.  You get the idea.  Just in case you lose track of which chapter we’re considering for a given Sunday, you can check this page.  The chapter for the week will be listed right here on the front page, in the Sunday Morning Schedule block to the right.

Interactive Java Stop returns!  Beginning in a couple of weeks, Pastor Darin’s Interactive Java Stop will have the airpots full of some pretty amazing coffee blends.  As always, the coffee is great but the conversation is better.  Interactive Java Stop will run between 8:15 and 9:00 on Sunday mornings, giving way to the variety of morning studies and small groups.

Look for information coming this week on the studies themselves.  This 10 week window of classes includes a study through the Gospel of Luke, a small group aimed at including all members of the family, and a reading/discussion group on the fictional best-seller The Shack.  Details are coming.

Finally, we’re excited about studying through “Letters to the Church” on Sunday mornings in 2010.  We’ll be kicking off with a sixteen week study through 1 Corinthians.  Our hope is to have the entire congregation read and study through the book together complete with a discussion on Sunday mornings as a part of the regular worship service.  So, turn to 1 Corinthians and get a head start.  Be looking for details–as well as your official invitation to be a part of this bible study.
