The Lord’s Supper
Posted By dshaw on December 8, 2009
This past Sunday we observed the Lord’s Supper as a congregation in a little different manner than usual–we observed a feast rather than an hors douevre. If you were there, what did you think? If you weren’t there, what would you have thought as we rolled out a variety of breads and fruits of the vine for the occasion?
No worries. We’ll be back to the “normal” way of observing Communion next month. But when you consider that the Lord instituted Communion as a part of a meal, and that the early church most often observed Communion as a part of a meal you have to wonder, when and why did the Lord’s Supper become a bite and a sip?

This Lord’s supper was absolutely amazing…. talk about observing this sacrement in such a way as to change the way it is viewed and be more appreciative of it’s benefits on the worshipper.
Thanks Darin and Worship team for shaking up our service and making it even more meaningful
The method was appealing. It made me think about communion from a different angle which is always helpful, especially for activities that too easily become rote. I often try to transport myself into that night of the last supper, to imagine I am there with Jesus and disciples, and this approach made the experience all the richer! Would it be possible to try having communion after the service as part of one of our pot-lucks? That might prove a unique experience, as well.
