13 Comments:
1) What is your favorite holiday song or Christmas carol? - Hark The Herald Angels Sing
2) Why? - Because I love to sing it loudly... what good news!
3) Which Christmas music are we likely to find in your CD player this year? - the very first Amy Grant Christmas Album... a classic!
1) Which Christmas song do you most hope we'll sing in church this Christmas season? - Hark The Herald Angels Sing
2) Which Christmas song would you be happy to never sing again in church? - We Three Kings
3) Why, to both questions number 1 & 2? - For number one, I love to sing that song! For number two, if you sing all the verses it feels to me like the song is longer than the wisemen's journey from the east! It is the song that never ends! All together now for the forty third time, and this time with feeling: "OOOOOO-OOOOHHHH Star of wonder..."

Ohhhh!!! I love Christmas season... everything about it! the meaning, the pretty lights, the snow, the spirit, and of course the music (which I've been listening to since the summer) :-)
In General:
1) What is your favorite holiday song or Christmas carol?
Oh Come all ye faithful, O Holy Night, and tons of others :-)
2) Which Christmas music are we likely to find in your CD player this year?
Relient K Christmas, Mercy Me Christmas, and I'm hoping to stumble upon some other ones :-)
In Church:
1) Which Christmas song do you most hope we'll sing in church this Christmas season?
Oh come all ye faithful
2) Which Christmas song would you be happy to never sing again in church? I have to agree with pastor darin... We three Kings
3) Why, to both questions number 1 & 2? I really like the message in Oh come all ye faithful... we should never forget to stand in complete awe and adoration or our Saviour. Relient K has this amazing song that says, "the first time that you opened your eyes did you realize that you would be my Savior and the first breath that left your lips did you know that it would change this world forever." I am so in awe that Jesus took on human flesh and was born like each one of us. The relient K song then ends with "I celebrate the day that you were born to die so that I could one day pray for you to change my life." it's all so mind blowing and I pray that we won't get so distracted by the beauty of the lights and the gifts that we forget that precious truth. I'm excited that I can come home for Christmas and celebrate the birth of our Saviour with all of you... minus the never-ending song ;-)

1) What is your favorite holiday song or Christmas carol? Do You Hear What I Hear?
2) Why? Hmm. Guess it's just always appealed to me, plus it's not one of the most commonly heard.
3) Which Christmas music are we likely to find in your CD player this year? Merry Axemas Vol. 1. Definitely.
1) Which Christmas song do you most hope we'll sing in church this Christmas season? The First Noel
2) Which Christmas song would you be happy to never sing again in church? God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
3) Why, to both questions number 1 & 2? The First Noel - nice, smooth timing and melody; feels good singing it. As for the other - I don't know. It just seems archaic and a little contrived, instead of say, timeless and traditional.

Really? We Three Kings of Orient ... is long?
I only know one verse and IT deals with tobacco products encased in hardened plant gum... that later has rapid expansion of gas molecules causing destructive action...
OK, VERY sorry, I'm way sleep deprived.
I like the Carpenter's Christmas album and will download it soon. Also the Canadian Brass, and ALL the Mannheim Steamroller.
Fave song? O Little Town? Hard to say.
Chuck it? That cursed Carol of the Bells...

1) What is your favorite holiday song or Christmas carol?
Angels We Have Heard on High
2) Why?
I like the "Glorias". Plus I like the harmonies and the challenging long phrases.
3) Which Christmas music are we likely to find in your CD player this year?
Trans-Siberian mostly. Sometimes Kathy Mattea or Amy Grant
In Church:
1) Which Christmas song do you most hope we'll sing in church this Christmas season?
Angels We Have Heard On High
2) Which Christmas song would you be happy to never sing again in church?
I totally agree with We Three Kings! But I would add The First Noel, Do You Hear What I Hear, (sorry Jam!) and the Little Drummer Boy
3) Why, to both questions number 1 & 2?
1. cuz I like it! 2. Because they all go on forever! I also dislike Drummer Boy because a majority of the song is only one chord.
But.....I absolutely love Christmas music, and think we don't get the chance to hear very much of it. It just gets my heart ready for the real meaning of the season. I always find myself still listening to it in January!

1&2) What is your favorite holiday song or Christmas carol?
I have lots of favorites....Sleigh Ride, Winter Wonderland, Feliz Navidad! Angels We Have Heard On High is one that holds dear memories for me of my grandmother, mother and lots of aunts and uncles all singing it in French!
The harmonies were great. My Mom still does a great solo for us on Christmas Eve!
3) Which Christmas music are we likely to find in your CD player this year? Andy Williams Christmas is a good bet; my newest additions for this season are "WOW Christmas" and "Engelbert Humperdinck"...(don't know how I lived without that for this long)!!!
In Church:
1) Which Christmas song do you most hope we'll sing in church this Christmas season? Not any one in particular----as many as possible!!
2) Which Christmas song would you be happy to never sing again in church? Although I do agree with everyone else's choices, I think even the most monotonous songs can come alive with our Worship Band!

D....
When you hear Carol of the Bells, just remember the Burger King song to that tune.....
"Ding fries are done, Ding fries are done..."
"Would you like an apple pie with that~~~~"
You'll smile everytime after that!

Nah. I try to imagine myself with some kind of deep emotional attachment to a Christmas song or carol but it's just not there. I *do* agree it's no fun singing ones that seem to go on forever, especially if they're slow timers. Don't mind *hearing* them, as long as notes aren't overly bent in the singing process.

LOL Jackie, Jackie, Jackie...
Engelbert Humperdoldt?
Why not the Tom Jones Christmas album...
Think of it...
"My, my MYYYYY Maria..."
"What's new wiseman? Woooahh woah wooooahhh."
"Shepherd, I'm a shepherd..."
... And the Carol of the Burger King is hilarious, if entirely UN-PC. As I said, I do NOT appreciate that song, but for some unknwon and perverse reason I was whistling it into the On the Run... The kid behind the counter never missed a beat..
"Ding fries are done.... And I make paper hats."

I do have a combination Tom Jones/Engelbert CD of their greatest hits! It was one of those "Value CD's" and quite a find! HaHa!

1) Sorry..Carol of the Bells, and Isabela
2) Because it moves and plays on "bells". The words sound like..the sound bells make--kind of like how the word "smile" looks like a smile..and--can't give a reason for the second one--it just sounds like Christmas to me.
3) Rennaisance Carols..by a symphony orchestra
1) O Holy Night
2) Silent night
Well..(1) because its beautifully done; plays on the voice nicely, and (2) Actually, I like them all, but, by the time Christmas gets here, every play in town has featured that song--it gets tiresome.
