It's All In Good Fun
This morning I've read a number of blog articles concerning the 'Emergent Church' controversies. John MacArthur's recently had a seminar on the evils of what he calls the Emergent Movement. In an article about that I see he has taken aim at David Crowder's book "Praise Habit" (see tallskinikiwi page linked on the right). Oops, I loved Crowder's book.
Anyhow, in poking through a number of links I found this one and it made me smile entitled "How you know the Emergent Church isn't for you". It's all tongue-in-cheek, so don't be offended. I hope you smile as you make your way down the page.

This was very funny! I recognized alot of the photos from my upbringing!
I read alot of the comments from the link, and it makes me crazy that there is always so much that people take issue with. Their time could be more well-spent. Wouldn't that make Someone happy?

Now I'm more confused than ever. And I thought the balance on my MC (Mental Confusion) was already maxed out.

The pictures made me giggle. The people here at Panera are looking at me funny!
Well, then again, they always look at me funny. It's so nice that they humor me.
Seriously though... No wait, I can't be serious, those hair pictures were hilarious.
BUT... It really is sad, and I refuse to be bound by either side. I learned a lot of hard "taking sides" lessons over the last many years.
I love John MacArthur's teaching. I used to go to his church whenever I had a chance. I think it's great that he's often the spokesperson when Larry King has an issue he wants discussed. MacArthur is able to do that with clarity and without lunacy.
And it occurs to me that what God does all the time is put brackets around His flock. He uses the predilections of His children to protect us.
One can easily see where the emergent church could veer off into a ditch, just as the non-emergent, the Reformed, the Charismatic... and on and on. We all tend to veer.
The rallying cries are like those divets on the roadside that wake you up when you're drifting. They serve as protections to hold God's people from error.
