Were You There?

The old spiritual asked 'Were you there when they crucified my Lord?' After this morning it is my expectation that people will be asking 'Were you there when Christ's Church celebrated Jesus' resurrection?' Wow!

First of all, thank you, Christ's Church family, for another great Easter Sunday celebration! Your spirit of adventure this morning, your singing, your dancing, your celebrating our risen Lord with reckless abandon and extravagance is unparalleled.

Thank you to Steve, Daryl, Charlie, Peter, Rick, Carey and others for your work in getting the breakfast off the ground this morning. You guys are servant leaders!

Thank you Mike and members of the World Famous Christ's Church Worship Band (even more so after this morning's effort) for serving us the way you do with your musical talent and your devotion. Thank you for taking God seriously and yourselves lightly! "Was that a banjo?" Germaine and Todd, thank you for the supreme effort of bringing it all to the screen and the speakers for us. Todd, I speak for all the musicians - awesome to have you back in the booth!

Sandi, Amanda, Katie, Lori, Jillian and Shannon (and your families for the sacrifices this morning), thank you for sharing your talents unto God's glory.

A huge thank you to Jim Chafe - our 'Pastor of Ballistics', for the engineering of our cannon. Be proud, Christ's Church - I am pretty sure we're the only church in New Hampshire that owns one.

So, were you there? Go ahead and click 'comments' and share your thoughts on a great day of celebration as the Body of Christ.

  • Darin and All of Christ's Church,

Thank you for the wonderful and meaningful Easter Celebration (very different from what we are used to -in a positive way!).

It was a joy to see such genuine smiles and happiness on the faces of Shannon, Jillian, Lori, Katie n Amanda (and amongst all of the congregation). Thank you for the opportunity to use their dance talents to bring joy and celebration to others!

Sandi, thank you for your time and talent!

Darin, it was great to finally see you in action!

I am sure we will be back to visit soon!

  • Awesome is the word that comes to mind as we celebrated our risen Saviour yesterday! The energy that was in that room could not be held in by the church walls and I know that God must have been smiling as we worshipped in a "ridiculous" fashion :-)

I got some awesome video and I have been showing it to a lot of my friends here... the comments seem to come to a concesus of "your church is out of control" followed by things like how cool it was. hehe... but you know what? I am so blessed to be apart of a church body who truly does give their all in worship to God, and that we celebrate! Like in the Psalm that was read yesterday we should be celebrating, using tambourines, lifting our voices, and dancing before God.

We are only wretched sinners with nothing to offer, and to not get up and dance in celebration for the one who saved us from our wretchedness and loves us enough to USE us is what is ridiculous. How can we sit still with everything Jesus has done for us?

Yesterday was such a celebration and I am so blessed to have been able to spend it with all of you. I had so much fun and I am grateful for the joy that literally overflowed the room. I hope that we will always be able to have the joy we experienced yesterday lived out in every day life, because being thankful for what Jesus did for us does not stop with Easter Sunday.
    Love you all!
    Be Blessed!

  • Bummer I couldn't be there. I wonder what it would be like to set off a cannon here... probably not a good thing. I remember living in Sarajevo some people were shooting off fireworks for one of the Muslim holidays and my neighbors ran into their house screaming that a sniper was shooting... I don't think the cannon would be a good idea since i live surrounded by people suffering from port-traumatic stress disorder...

But as usaul we roasted a lamb in the rain, sang lots of worship and old folk songs, and fellowshipped together.

I'll try to get to one of your Easter celebrations one day - as long as you try to get to one of ours :)

  • Leanne....since I am definitely NOT going to be working on Easter Day 2007, maybe I'll let them know that I will be in Bosnia! Actually, I do need to experience Easter at Christ's Church first, so 2008????

  • Jackie - just bring everyone from Christ's Church to Bosnia.. I'm not sure about getting the cannon on the plane though - I'm thinking you'll have to check it!

  • Hi,
To all involved in the Easter Celebration, thank you... I am still smiling..

I so love the amazing and ever changing ways that Christ's Church shows its joy in the the life of our risen Savior!! It was wonderful to see the dancing, and so very memorable for our children to see the joy in the true meaning of Easter. I love worshiping with you all every Sunday...
