Apocalypse Now?
Just saw this article in the headlines on the return of Christ, end of the world as we know it, and all the theories on how it is at hand, how Christians can hasten the day, and on the signs of the times. Wow. I'm sure glad God has all these folks to help Him out with the details. I especially like the part about the guy breeding red heifers. Why didn't I think of that?
Hmmm... what does the Word say? "For as lightning flashes from the east to the west, so also will be the coming of the Lord. But of that day and hour, no one knows. Not even the angels in heaven, but my Father only. Watch therefore, because you do not know the hour your Lord is coming. But concerning times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. But you, brothers, are not in the dark that this day should overtake you. You are sons of the light. Therefore, comfort one another with these truths!" (Matt. 24:27, 36, 42 & 1 Thes. 5:1-2, 4-5, 11)
So what do you think? Time to start breeding red heifers?

methinks he red heifers are simply red herrings ... it's all a red plot to make us see red.
... but seriously ... that visual just stirs me. it was a quiet morning around here this morning until the neighborhood was torn with the ripping crack of thunder.

I read that article too, and it was perplexing to me... well, not perplexing, but I think I had a perplexing look on my face...
I want a red heifer... can you imagine the tediousness of looking for 2-3 not red hairs on a heifer?? I can only look for sprouting gray hairs on my own head for a minuite or two before I go nuts...

Intersting article, some of these people are confused and others were probably presented with the journalist's slant to make them look crazy. ANyways, I think things like paying attention to what's happening in Israel and doing your best to fullfill the great commission are totally inline with God's word and will, but when you think you can speed His plan up...you better get a humility check and remember that no one has the power to do that. Darin I think the scriptures you referenced are perfect when addressing issues like the ones in this article.
