Pure & Theoretical To Applied & Practical
We considered missional living on Sunday morning as we 'commissioned' our 2006 Global Outreach Team headed to Namibia this week. The text we studied was Ephesians 1. You can read my notes here. The audio file will be posted in the right hand menu in a couple days (sorry for the delay). Give the text a look and drop in your thoughts. What do you think about this prayer for believers? Missional lifestyle versus a church sending out a missions team, etc?

1 Comments:
Years in missionary churches (Conservative Baptist, Christian and Missionary Alliance, etc. etc.). I'm thankful for those years. I learned the value of missions.
But I think I only heard once or twice about the dual path of missional living... changing and changed.
It was always a theme of Elisabeth Elliot. But few others.
I thought as you spoke of the arrogance of the shirt, "Namibia 2004 -- Changing a nation."
I know it's well-intentioned, but there's such an ego rush that's possible with missions unless you really go with God. I think I heard a lot of the ego rush.
But real missional living. Crossing any/all boundaries. Being made into the image of Christ. That's the real deal.
So many thoughts... Thoughts of the Christian high school teacher who would not accept my "missions" report on George Mueller (German who was called to reach street orphans in Victorian England). Mueller wasn't a true missionary because he hadn't gone to a non-Christian nation. That irked me.
OK, disclosure: I did the report on Mueller because I'd forgotten to read anything and I'd just read his biography... but still :)
I'm so thankful to be a part of a community of people walking with Jesus in the humility that walking means.
Blessings, Namibia team. Go with God and be changed!
