Sunday's Study
Well how about that text? Women must wear head coverings? Men with long hair are a disgrace? Angels are watching? That looks like the perfect text for a preacher to avoid! Trust me, I thought about it. But, what fun would that be? So, I dove into the first 16 verses of 1 Corinthians 11 this past Sunday. You can read my notes here, and listen to the audio file here, or find them both in the right hand menu. So, give it another look and then jump in here with some comments. What did you think of our study through the text? Were you disappointed that I couldn't clearly explain parts of the passage? Have you got those points figured out? Help me take monologue to dialogue. Chime in.

1) Good thing a certain pastor lost the mullet!
2) Agree with you so much about finding the principle behind it. So much similarity with this and with the John 13 passage. When we concentrate on the particulars we lose sight of the principles.
The net-net? Jesus cares about our HEARTS. It's what issues forth OUT of our mouths that shows who we are, not the foods we take in.
Peter had a rough time with this... after all, at one point it DID look like God only cared about the outward.
Why the OT/NT difference in this??? It almost seems like God was toying with us in the OT, setting us up with the rules and regs, only torpedo them and tell us the heart is what matters...
Were the OT saints short-changed?? Were they led astry?
