In Acts 1, Jesus commanded his followers to go “to the ends of the earth” to make disciples. Though we are a small church in the United States, we understand the importance of participating in what God is doing around the world and strive to be globally-minded when it comes to supporting the spread of the gospel and caring for the needs of others. We call this G.O. (Global Outreach).
Compassion’s tagline says it all, “Releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.” Many of the members of Christ’s Church faithfully sponsor a child or multiple children through Compassion. Christ’s Church has been pleased to host Compassion Sunday events throughout the years to bring awareness and to give new people an opportunity to sponsor a child. You can learn about all of Compassion’s programs and how to sponsor a child by clicking here.
Until Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to give birth to one of their children there, most people had never heard of Namibia. But since 2001, Christ’s Church has been partnering with individuals and organizations to bring the hope of Jesus to this small African nation. Over the years we have sent many teams of people from within and even outside our congregation to this wonderful nation to serve through dance teams, music teams, education teams, clean-up projects and more.
Most recently, we have had the privilege of being the sending church for SIM missionary to Namibia, Michael Knight, who grew up at CCA and once served as our youth pastor. You can learn more about Mike and the work he’s doing with Namibia Theological Seminary by visiting his blog, Blossoming Deserts.
“Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
Over the years Christ’s Church has developed a big heart for the persecuted church. In addition to prayer our congregation periodically takes up collections to support displaced believers or to fund bible distribution in hostile countries. We also encourage our members to advocate for the release of those imprisoned for their faith and do our best to provide the resources and information to do so. The two primary organizations that we are updated by and choose to support are Voice of the Martyrs and Open Doors USA.
