Ice Cream, the Bible, and the Big Story of Everything
This summer, we’re inviting kids, students, adults, and whole families to read the Bible together in a simple, doable way.
Our Summer Bible Reading plan follows the big story of Scripture through four movements:
Creation. Fall. Redemption. Renewal.
Each week includes a short list of Bible readings connected to Sunday’s message, plus optional Bible Project videos for anyone who wants to go deeper. You can read on your own, around the dinner table, before bed, with your kids, or alongside a friend.
And yes—there’s ice cream involved.
Each week, families can submit their completed reading through our Summer Bible Reading app. Weekly prize drawings will happen behind the scenes, and everyone who participates will be part of a summer-long journey through the story God is telling from Genesis to Revelation.
This is not about doing more religious homework. It’s about seeing the Bible more clearly, helping our families engage Scripture, and remembering that our lives are part of a much bigger story.

Sometimes the words we say and the words people hear are two very different things. That’s why communication can feel so frustrating in marriages, families, and workplaces. The “I Said This, You Heard That” class helps unpack why that happens and how understanding personality wiring can improve the way we communicate. This training, based on Kathleen Edelman’s popular program, helps you recognize how your temperament shapes the way you speak and listen. It’s practical, insightful, and incredibly helpful for parents,…
The Easter story begins in a place that felt like defeat. The disciples thought the story was over. But just when it looked like everything had fallen apart, God was writing a completely different ending. Easter is the moment when hope breaks back into the world. Join us at Christ’s Church of Amherst as we celebrate Easter together with live music, a hopeful message, and a joyful atmosphere for the whole family. Services last about an hour and include a…
Before Easter morning bursts with joy, the Christian story pauses in a quieter place. Good Friday invites us to slow down and remember the love and sacrifice of Jesus. It’s a moment to reflect on what the cross means and why it matters. Our Good Friday service is intentionally simple and reflective, with Scripture readings, music, and space to sit with the story. It’s a meaningful way to prepare your heart for Easter and remember the depth of the hope…
EggFest is one of the biggest days of the year at Christ’s Church—but what we love most about it are the small moments inside it. A toddler proudly holding their first egg. Siblings comparing their candy. Parents laughing together while kids run across the lawn. It’s a big event, but it’s really made up of hundreds of little moments that matter. We host EggFest because people matter. Families matter. Moments together matter. So we fill thousands of eggs, organize hunts…
Baptism can feel like a big step. Maybe you’ve followed Jesus for years but never took it. Maybe you were baptized as a child and have questions. Maybe you’re just trying to understand what it means. From the earliest days of the church, baptism marked a public way of saying, “I’m with Jesus.” It wasn’t about being impressive. It was about identity — belonging to him. Across history, churches have slowed this moment down on purpose. And research still shows…
At some point, you move from attending to wondering. What is this church really about?Where is it headed?Could this be a place to belong? Our Welcome to CCA Lunch is designed for that moment. On February 22 after services, we’re hosting a relaxed lunch with Pastor John and Pastor Elisha. We’ll share a short overview of the heart and direction of Christ’s Church, tell a bit of our story, and leave plenty of room for your questions. It’s not a…
Ever believe in God… but struggle to notice him? God, Up Close is a Bible study for people who pray, wonder, doubt, and sometimes feel like God is just out of reach. Drawing from Scripture and insights inspired by Tyler Staton’s The Familiar Stranger, we’ll explore what it means to become attentive to a God who doesn’t stay distant. Not hype. Not easy answers.
